Hot Guys And Blue Eyes

I received so many subscriber emails after my Wednesday newsletter that I want to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support. I understand that talking about war can bring out supporters on both sides of the engagement, and expected some pushback. However, it was truly heartwarming to read the responses from so many of you who saw that what I wrote came from my love for our country and our military. The love far outweighed the opposition.

Outside of that, my week has been pretty crazy. We’ve had a lot going on, and my husband is once again out of town for work. We have a routine we fall into when he is not home that usually makes it pretty seamless. While it’s more work, it’s the kind of work I love because it gives me more time with the girls.

However, our routine was thrown into a tailspin Wednesday, and it felt like nothing was going to plan. By the time I got home that night, I realized I hadn’t pulled the meat out of the freezer for dinner, which meant I was staring down the possibility of not having dinner ready for several hours. I took one look at the girls and told them to get back into the car. I was going to break one of my cardinal rules and take them out for dinner on a weeknight.

I don’t like eating out during the week if we can help it. Staying home means I get unfiltered conversations with the girls and control over the ingredients in their food. However, after the day I had, the idea of cooking and then cleaning up the dishes felt like torture. And while I could have had them help me in the kitchen to ease the burden, they also had a long day. Eating out felt like a mercy to all of us.

This turned out to be the best decision I could have made.
