I Almost Drank Whole Milk In The Oval Office
From whole milk to planned parenthood to George Washington University... this week was crazy
President Trump offered up a giant bottle of whole milk to me and my colleagues in the Oval Office last week. He said it was five days old, but I’ll admit that I thought about taking him up on the offer. How often does the president of the United States offer you a glass of milk while signing bills into law? (By the way, Trump later told us the milk was fresh and NOT five days old.)
When I wasn’t traveling last week, I was at the White House in the Oval Office and press briefing room.
The president held one of his regular Oval Office press conferences while he signed a bill into law putting whole milk back in schools. When he turned to the press to take questions, there were two big topics on my mind: the news that the administration had restored funding to Planned Parenthood, and the new assistant attorney general position dedicated to rooting out fraud in America.
If you aren’t up to speed on the Planned Parenthood news, let me fill you in.
Earlier in the month, the ACLU announced it was dropping a lawsuit against the administration after learning that the Health and Human Services Department (HHS) had restored $27.5 million worth of Title X family planning grants to Planned Parenthood. The grants were originally frozen while an investigation took place after Trump signed an executive order banning DEI practices within organizations taking federal funds.
This enraged a lot of conservatives. Why was Planned Parenthood getting its federal funds back?
I asked the president about this in the Oval Office. He told me he didn’t know about the report and kicked it to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy who ALSO told me he had no idea what I was talking about.
Watch the awkward moment here:
This kicked off a string of reporting.
