Sydney Sweeney is hot and you’re not allowed to say it. Well, you are, and many have, but there’s a feeling that doing so is somehow transgressive. Insert Norman Rockwell’s “Freedom of Speech” here.

Tempers really flared when Sweeney herself acknowledged, via a jeans commercial, that she’s hot. It’s one thing to have blonde hair and blue eyes and a massive brain. It’s another to like those qualities.

The right, as filtered by my X algorithm, seized Sweeney for their own. She was an avatar of conservative cultural victory for having a good appraisal of her own sexual attractiveness and refusing to apologize for it.

The left has found their own avatar: Rama Duwaji, wife of New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.
