Sipping Spritzes In Rome Through The Pope-Trump Feud

The Daily Caller arrived in Rome early Wednesday morning, just a few days after President Donald Trump launched an unprecedented broadside at Pope Leo.

When some members of our team first decided to fly in to attend “America Week” — an annual gathering of American Catholics in Rome to support various Church-related institutions — none of us imagined we’d be there during one of the biggest news stories of the year.

It is one thing to drink an Aperol spritz overlooking St. Peter’s Basilica amid cardinals, bishops, and Catholic megadonors. It is another to do so while the president of the United States is publicly feuding with the pope.
