An Introduction To The ‘Shit Test’

The “Pick Up Artist” (PUA) community of the early aughts teetered on the bleeding edge of psychosexual observation. Among the great many terms PUAs contributed to the lexicon — negging, red pill (as a verb), frame — their crowning achievement was, in my view, the formal recognition of the “shit test.”

What is a shit test?

“A manufactured grievance a woman uses to test the mettle, competence and confidence of her mate. It is an intentional provocation accompanied by an implicit and subconscious desire that the man put his foot down, set reasonable boundaries and demonstrate that he will not be bullied, nagged, shamed or guilted into submission,” says youngsimba1991 of urban dictionary. An earlier definition of “shit test” was submitted in 2006, the year after Neil Strauss’ “The Game” was published, a book often credited with mainstreaming pick up artistry.

An example of a shit test:

Simply put: A woman throws shit at a man to see how he’ll handle it. The evolutionary psychology explanation goes, “A woman has incentive to test the fitness of a potential mate before taking the plunge and having his children.”

Above all else, women are screening for confidence. Authority. “Can I trust his command? Who is going to wear the pants in our relationship?”

I won’t argue against the use of shit tests in an interpersonal context. Some degree of vetting, especially in the early stage of a relationship, is necessary and good. And the internet is awash in advice for men on how to handle shit testing from the object(s) of their affection.

Here’s my proposal: We are living through a civilizational shit test. In order to survive, we need to start saying “NO” to women.

What does a civilizational shit test look like? Something like this.

In October 2025, Political polling firm Cygnal asked likely voters if it was “acceptable to go beyond peaceful protest in response to immigration raids conducted by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), even if those actions break the law.” Overall, about 24% of respondents agreed.

Among self-identified liberal white women, 18 to 44, about 61% of respondents agreed.

Enter: The late Renee Nicole Good.

Renee Good appeared to use her vehicle to interfere in an ICE operation. She and Rebecca “Becca” Good, her lesbian “partner,” or whatever term you prefer, entered into a contentious argument with ICE officers, before Renee Good accelerated in the direction of an officer who fatally shot her.

After Renee Good’s death, a woman believed to be Becca Good, screamed at the officers, “Why did you have real bullets?”

Uh. Why wouldn’t they?

“It’s my fault,” the same woman later says. “I made her come down here. It’s my fault.”

Before the shooting, Becca Good had assumed a slightly more aggressive tone, telling the officer, “You want to come at us? You want to come at us? I say go get yourself some lunch, big boy. Go ahead.” Becca Good seems absolutely unaware that “violence” might be an outcome of the dangerous situation into which she’d voluntarily entered.

Women like Renee and Rebecca Good are estranged from reality.

The strangest and saddest aspect of Renee Good’s demise, to me, is her lack of fear. I speculate that a drip-feed of BlueSky propaganda, supplemented by decades of “girl power” media, is to blame. John Carter has a good essay on late-stage liberal mind melt: “Eventually, the unstable construct of distortions and outright falsehoods that liberalism is based upon is destined to disappear into a shrieking howl of distorted static, and it will take the minds of its adherents with it … It will cause actual brain damage.”

Again, I return to the shit test. Renee Good needed someone to tell her, “No.” She didn’t have a husband to do that. She had a “partner” who told her, “Drive, drive.” As Ancient Problemz mentioned during our recent podcast episode, if his wife told him to do something that would get them killed, he simply wouldn’t.

Renee Good was not particularly special. Social media is rife with videos of white, presumably liberal, women antagonizing ICE officers.

For instance.

For shriller instance.

“All we’re learning from this is that you should hit the gas … You should, you should run them over with your car,” advises one woman in a video filmed inside her car. (Anyone who delivers impassioned TikToks from the driver’s seat of their sedan is to be disregarded for that reason alone.) The woman’s voice verges on amused.

These women, like Renee Good, are throwing massive tantrums. They are shit testing. They are dancing around them, like a child taunting another on the playground: “I’m not touching you! I’m not touching you!”

This is a twisted sort of chivalry in which the woman assumes the posture of a man (aggressive, confrontational), but recoils at being treated harshly. In other words, she demands the rights of a man, the privileges of a woman, and the responsibilities of neither.

There’s another explanation, adjacent to the Shit Test Hypothesis, which might explain such behavior.
