NO, SERIOUSLY, FLOCK OFF
Dear Flock And Flock Supporters,
It isn’t that we don’t trust Flock. Okay, maybe it is a little bit. There hasn’t been a good recent track record when it comes to tech companies gathering personal data. See, nobody has the time to read your insidiously written user agreements. Nobody has the money either to pay lawyers to read your insidiously written user agreements. Maybe if you people stopped printing it directly into the bank accounts of Somalian fraudsters … but I digress.
No, Flock is just a buzzing little nuisance. At best, it’s a bill taxing us for $50 for a moving violation we don’t even remember doing.
At worst, it’s police showing up at a woman’s door because one of her little girls was caught on surveillance camera riding a swing that broke. It’s a criminal justice system that has no difficulty attempting to prosecute those little girls, 12 years old and 10 years old, for criminal mischief. They had to sit utterly petrified in a court room as a police officer testified against them for “improperly using a swing.”
Thank God the judge thought better of the case involving suburban mother Katie Huss and chucked it, but not before authorities refused to even show her the video of her own children. The borough then went after her in civil court for $160 in restitution. All because her girls were twisting themselves up in the swing in order to spin wildly in circles, something every suburban American kid has done on park swings going back 100+ years.
We also know the artificial intelligence systems you’ll invariably pair up with these surveillance systems. You’re bureaucrats, we know you’re too stupid to do the work yourself. So you’ll ask a robot to do it for you!
Watch as another suburban mom realizes in real time that Meta’s AI has built an entire dossier on her family, to include location searches! All because she shared a cute video of her daughter.
Think of what you’re asking us, Flock supporters. What you want us to believe is Flock will be used to catch violent criminals and find lost kids, rather than find innocent kids to prosecute as violent criminals.
Can we at least agree the recent criminal justice track record is also utterly inverted?
Approximately 500 “teens” – the new euphemism for black youth – mobbed an unsuspecting Burger King the other day. Where are the arrests? Where is the accountability for parents? Where is the justice for the guy who took the risk opening a Burger King there in the first place?
There have been hundreds of these, by the way. They happen in plain view of the public and I presume on surveillance cameras. These kids post to social media as well. Where are their AI-generated dossiers? Will the police be knocking on parents’ doors in this case?
The answer is no.
By the way, where is Cesar Mario Juan Torres? He’s been raping his way across a couple states for months. Can you please find and deport this guy? News hasn’t broken on whether or not he’s here illegally, but cmon, can’t you just tell at this point?
Here’s what we know with certainty: We still live in a culture where you can be prosecuted and jailed for wrongthink and wrongspeech. Just ask Shiloh Hendrix. We also know our overlords are hellbent on giving certain kinds of people 10 million chances to commit violent crimes.
We’ve seen what’s happening in the UK and Germany. Goofy dorks in police uniforms, often non-native born, knocking on doors to ask people about anti-immigration Facebook posts.
We don’t want that here. We lived through Covid lockdowns. We lived through the “summer of love.” Riots that went completely unchecked because of certain kinds of people. We lived through Kyle Rittenhouse and Daniel Penny.
We know where this is going. Decarlos Brown Jr. committed 17 crimes prior to slaughtering Iryna Zarutska on a commuter train. A federal competency panel found Brown mentally “incapable to proceed” with trial. The man who filmed Shiloh Hendrix “saying the n word” was previously charged with raping a minor. The evidence against Sharmake Omar, a Somalian, was compelling. The judge decided to let him go “in the interest of justice.” So of course he ended up on a playground with his camera out!
Again, certain kinds of people only get justice.
Until people like Decarlos Brown Jr. are locked up and people like Shiloh Hendrix are not, you guys can Flock right off.
