State of Friday: THE TRANSGENDER TROJAN HORSE
Parents revolted. Teachers and students, athletes, friends and family all stood up and said: No, we will not.
Greetings, Dear Reader,
I’m not one to believe in vast conspiracies. The problem with them is that they are vast. In my experience, you get much more than four people knowing something, and it’s already out.
And you could look at history for this. What more would we seek to protect than how nukes are made? That leaked. To Russia, no less. Our flight ceiling for spy planes leaked. The fact that we drugged soldiers with LSD and deliberately gave black men syphilis, that all leaked. Hillary’s big Russia conspiracy started unraveling from the start. Granted, it took some years, but we generally know what happened now, eh?
So I don’t think what follows is a conspiracy per se. It wasn’t the result of a cluster of people who gathered together to hatch a secret plan.
It’s more insidious and out of control than that, in my opinion. Groups of people eventually start to take on a mind of their own. It doesn’t matter really who runs the giant investment bank; investment banks will still behave like investment banks.
And so you get to the New Left, and what it has become, and the very last gambit it ran to test the limits of its power …
THE TRANSGENDER TROJAN HORSE
Most people, even people who haven’t read it, know that 1984’s penultimate conclusion could be summed up by the absurd 2 + 2 = 5 equation.
I refer to it as penultimate because it was just a thought. The dystopic government wanted their people to believe something absurd, on demand, at the snap of a finger. The ultimate conclusion was one of action, and specifically action toward a person you hold in the highest regard. A lover, a family member.
Big Brother wanted not only to demand instant thought, but also the power to order you to destroy a family member.
People who read it might recall the second-to-last chapter, in which the protagonist, Winston, has a cage holding hungry rats strapped to his head. Ultimately, he is willing to say or believe anything, but is he willing to harm his most cherished human relationship at the behest of Big Brother?

The aptly named Chase Strangio has had a sudden awakening.
Previous iterations of Strangio — the ACLU lawyer known best for leading the legal charge on transgenderism, particularly treatment of children — demanded ultimate power to impose. Books should be banned. People who committed wrongthink imprisoned, or at the very least rendered destitute. Parents should be robbed of their capacity to decide on health care for their children, unless …
Well, unless they were willing to go along with the machine’s demands. Unless they “affirmed” their child’s delusions and, more than that, took action. If the deluded child demanded budding sexual parts be cleaved from their bodies, then …
Those parents should be enthusiastic participants in their child’s destruction. Anything less, and they might fall out of favor with the machine. They might find themselves uninvited from dinner, or fired, or worse, they might find themselves childless, their children now stewarded by the state, the machine.

It seems, if not providential, at least poetic that this whole institutional mutilation of children thing came to a head in the aftermath of COVID.
We did and said some truly absurd things during the lockdowns. I don’t care what you say now, how based you think you are. Most of us are guilty of giving up some ground here and there. I lived in Northern Virginia at the time and basically didn’t leave my home for two years.
I guess I would have if I could have, but work in DC was closed indefinitely, gyms were closed — basically everywhere was closed.
I did go on a trip to Hawaii and did get the jab in order to legally do it. I suppose I could have gotten one of those fake cards, but I figured, what’s the harm?
And so I sat on an airplane in a mask for six hours with hundreds of other people. A giant inescapable tube and all of us masked up.
It was certainly more absurd than obeying the little stickers placed on the floor six feet apart on your way to the cash register.
If it was a test, perhaps I failed it. I never actually believed for a second, though, that any of it was making one shred of difference. In fact, I was highly F’N annoyed the entire time.
And I got even more annoyed when I realized that to some people, perhaps best characterized as mentally unwell, following the absurd had become a religion. In modern times, however, at least in civilized society, you almost never see the acolytes of any given religion shouting “SINNER!” in public at people.
Yet that’s what you had in this particular case. It wasn’t even the acolytes; it was the laity, your own neighbor at the register, telling you, “Put your mask over your nose.”

Strangio did a sit-down with The New York Times’ Ross Douthat.
If you’re interested in the subject, and if you’re interested in how one of the most vicious, authoritarian, dictatorial twats in the age of overreaching leftism has turned over a new leaf, well, then you can read it in full here.
Otherwise, here was the part that caught my eye.
The debate at hand was Douthat’s contention that some, in fact many, contrarian doctors were saying that the “wait-and-see” method of dealing with gender dysphoria usually results in so-called “desisting.” Desisting is when young adults, once dysphoric, reach the crest of puberty and settle into their biological reality.
There’s been a ton of research on this, and it bears out, which is why Strangio’s cause had to brand it as heretical.
And so it was dubbed “conversion therapy,” and anyone advocating for it was called “transphobic.”
Strangio giving ground here is a subtle white flag, but it’s significant.
He’s willing to have a “conversation” even though he knows the conversation will result in his defeat. Obviously minors should not be castrated and mutilated, even with parental consent.
So in all but the most fringe cases, it appears they’ve lost.

I guess at this point I should tell you why I think this is a significant victory.
It was never enough for the New Left to simply invert reality. To make you say the absurd. Joe Biden is fine. What crisis at the border? There isn’t a crime problem. That guy in a dress over there? Actually, he’s a woman.
They needed you to act out the absurd. It was a test of sorts. Wear a mask. Stand six feet apart in the underground tube full of people as you commute. Get your 98th booster of an experimental vaccine.
Give it to your kids, despite all available evidence showing they are not at risk. Give it to those kids!
But let’s go further than that, shall we? Let’s confuse your children in school, then demand you end your bloodlines. Worse, actually, you must harm your own children. Permanently change their biochemistry. Permanently alter their bodies. Make them mental patients for life. Make them dependent on the Pfizers of the world until they enter the grave.
They attempted to do this by force, even. States became sanctuaries for children with “unaffirming parents.” They threatened to destroy you, to lock you up in years of costly legal battles.
Like Winston with the rats strapped to his face, saying about his one true love in the world, shrieking, “Do it to Julia! Do it to Julia! Not me! Julia!”
The sickest part is that I don’t really believe it was ever about the kids. It was always about the adults. Wearing a mask is lame. Let’s go further. What’s the most absurd thing we can get them to do? Harm their own children would be up there, no? More than just saying or believing the absurd, but doing it. That is true ownership. Had they won that, I do believe the American spirit would be lost.
The thing that gives me hope, however, is that our culture saw the transgender Trojan horse wheeled through the gates and didn’t buy it for a second. Some did, but most didn’t.
Parents revolted. Teachers and students, athletes, friends and family all stood up and said: No, we will not.
Now, the movement’s biggest zealot, its grand inquisitor, lies prostrate before the New York Times’ only religious conservative, asking meekly for a “conversation.”
We set the horse on fire.
