No, he didn’t.

STEAK AND LOBSTER-GATE
I actually can’t believe this is real.
“Pete Hegseth spent 15 million dollars in one month for ribeye steaks, 6.9 million for lobster tail, 225 million for furniture, he spent more in the month of september than most countries on earth spend on their defense,” said CNN’s Paul Begala, and then here’s the kicker, “ALL FOR HIMSELF … lobster tails? While our troops are eating MREs?”
I’m genuinely shocked he said it in all seriousness. So was CNN’s Patron Saint of Sanity, Scott Jennings.
“Do you believe the secretary of defense is personally eating all the lobster?” Jennings said.
LMAO
I really wanted to get to more important things today. I wanted to analyze the gravity of Trump’s moves in the Middle East. The overthrow of Lloyd’s of London’s insurance cartel in the Strait of Hormuz. The mounting evidence China’s missile tech is just temu-quality garbage.
But I can’t ignore how stupid this other story is. News broke recently that Hegseth spent a bunch of money last September on surf and turf (and furniture).
I have to say, and I have said before, I wish it were true that troops were just eating MREs. They aren’t. Can anyone think of any reason why the Pentagon would stock up on easily 5x-the-cost steak and lobster in the last quarter of ‘25?
Could it be the whirlwind of military action we’ve seen in nearly every major geographic theater since?
It’s been a tell since at least WWII for garrisoned troops. They come into the chow hall. There’s steaming, often poorly cooked, sometimes even boiled, ribeye. Mass produced lobster tail basically devoid of flavor beside it.
Huge signal that some tribulation is coming. Either you’re about to get hazed or shot at, one of the two. So leadership wants bellies full and morale high.
I was in the field once with a company of Marines. Mid-tier training operation. I think it was maybe two weeks tops. For the most part we ate MREs.
We knew it was going to be a bad series of days though when we got back to the wagons and saw a bunch of c-rations getting boiled. Hot meals. Hot drinks. When we woke up the next morning, we spent the next two days mostly awake and moving.

When you’re about to ramp up op tempo across the board, you feed the guys with the guns.
If it costs $20 million, well, money well spent.
The idiotic breathless exhortations of liberals, however, now that’s priceless.
