State of Thursday: THE OLDER AND BLACKER YOU ARE
Where have we seen this trend before?

THE OLDER AND BLACKER YOU ARE
To be clear, that’s not actually a saying. Or, it wasn’t until some new polling was released in the race for DC mayor.
At the center of the race are two DC natives, Kenyan McDuffie, 51, and Janeese Lewis George (JLG), 38.
McDuffie was a postal worker to pay his way through school. He graduated from Howard University, then got his JD, and was a trial attorney for Obama’s civil rights division before entering local DC government in 2012.
JLG was the daughter of a postal worker. She also got her JD and served briefly as a juvenile prosecutor in the district before entering local politics.
And you’d think that might give her some perspective on crime and punishment, but I hate to dash your spirits on that front, Dear Reader.
JLG is yet another self-styled “Democratic-socialist” who believed at one point DC Metro Police should be defunded in favor of a “community approach,” ie, social workers. She’s also in favor of wealth taxes and government-controlled housing.
I know … this … again.
Compared to JLG, McDuffie is a centrist. He supports beefing up police and installing stricter curfews for juveniles in the city. His approach to housing is more builder- and investor-friendly.
He supports cutting “red tape” and pragmatism. She supports “bold, systemic change,” which is a euphemism for historically terrible, top-down socialist impositions.
She’s basically a black Zohran Mamdani. She’s also winning for similar reasons.
You might recall, if it weren’t for voters who turned up in NYC in just the past five years, Cuomo would likely have beaten Mamdani.
This poll shows another interesting divide as well: The older and blacker you are, the more you support McDuffie for his stance on policing.
So, basically, white girls in Georgetown and goofy think tank interns are about to decide the crime policy fate of longtime residents.
“The bottom line: The younger, better educated, and newer you are to D.C., the more likely you are to support Lewis George,” says the write-up accompanying the poll.
“Better educated” lol, give me a break. These kids know nothing and their stupid IR and PoliSci degrees are meaningless.
More importantly, many of them will leave the district before they have to face the consequences. Roughly 40-60% of the people in the 18-29 year old bracket – the one poised to vault JLG into the mayor seat – won’t be here in four years, according to census trends.
White flight + old, black people left holding the bag.
