State of Wednesday: DON'T BE AFRAID
It’s funny to me that saying the obvious is now considered an act of bravery in our circles.
Greetings, Dear Reader,
It’s funny to me that saying the obvious is now considered an act of bravery in our circles.
We need to get back to speaking common truths as a matter of course.
It isn’t brave to say the truth.

DON’T BE AFRAID
Let’s talk about where identity matters and where it doesn’t.
Two things happened recently.
Karine Jean-Pierre gave perhaps the most incoherent, idiotic interview of all time to an assumed friendly in the media. Let’s just say it straight up: She’s incompetent. She’s undeserving of sitting in the highest posts that media and political communications have to offer.
(Here’s one particularly painful back-and-forth where the interviewer asks her multiple times to explain herself while insisting that he is not the dumb one.)
So why’s she even there?
The second thing is Katie Miller saying the obvious on CNN: “She is just evidence that DEI doesn’t work … why did she get the job over John Kirby? Because as everyone has said this week, she is woefully incompetent.”
“Why is she trained to mention every four sentences that she is a black queer LGBT woman? Because that’s how she’s been trained her entire career.”
Reading over the incomprehensible lefty duckspeak KJP launched into during her interview with The New Yorker, it’s hard not to notice that she mentions how gay she is at least twice.
Why does any of that matter? It doesn’t, in most regards. Scott Bessent is probably my favorite modern treasury secretary of all time and none of my personal assessment is in regard to his sexuality.
Of course, the typical liberal reaction to Katie Miller’s CNN soundbite is occurring right now. In short: She’s a bigot.
Well, I’m here to tell you I don’t care whether she is or isn’t. I can’t look into her heart. What matters most is she’s right.
We should not be afraid to say it: In cases of competence, identity isn’t even just secondary; it’s totally irrelevant. Can you fly the plane? Can you perform the heart surgery? Can you drive the semi-truck without being sh*tfaced and killing three innocent people in a cataclysmic wreck?
And on that note, I can tell you where identity does matter. There are instances in which it does, in fact, matter. Chiefly: immigration.
Lefties would call me a bigot for this too, but again, I don’t care: Who we let into this country matters. The kinds of people we allow into our country are an important matter of public debate.
Just as we shouldn’t be afraid to speak the truth about DEI in domestic politics, when it comes to foreign policy, and foreigners, we should also speak the truth.
We know from the UK that Somalis and Eritreans are disproportionately apt to crime and dependence on social welfare. Why even let them in? Get them out. All of them who immigrated in the last five years. If they got a doctorate in that time and are contributing members of society, if they speak the language fluently and aren’t running rape gangs, great, you can stay.
Otherwise, out.
We also have data on immigrants from Algeria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and Sri Lanka. Again, why even let them in? Their cultures are incompatible with ours, and they show almost no effort to assimilate.
West Africans, on the other hand, are overwhelmingly successful here. They earn degrees, start businesses, learn the language, contribute to American productivity. Welcome aboard!
We need to get back to high-barring our legal immigration. Why is there no language requirement for a green card? People working here should speak fluent English.
Why does this even have to be stated? English is our language. Learn to speak it if you want to work here.
The fear of being called racist or a bigot has somehow rendered our brains utterly paralytic to the point that conjecture over whether we should deport suspected human traffickers here illegally is actually a matter of debate. It’s not debatable — get them out.
Why are there 1.5 million illegals on food stamps? We pay for that. Use the data to perform sweeping immigration raids. They might call it cruel and — gasp — racist; I call it common sense.
If you crossed illegally and you’re on food stamps, you’re out. If you’ve been here more than three years and you don’t speak the language, you’re out. If you’ve got so much as a misdemeanor criminal violation, for the love of God, you are on the next plane, bus or train. Get them out.
Do you think Tokyo or Beijing or any other modern, developed non-Western economy suffers this kind of absurd racial self-hatred? They absolutely do not.
Parts of Minnesota might as well be territories of Somalia. Dearborn, Michigan, is basically a giant madrassa now. The Muslim mayor hollered at a Christian pastor recently who showed up to a city council meeting to object to the renaming of American streets after a publisher who glorified Hamas and Hezbollah. He told the pastor he wasn’t welcome in Dearborn. He said he’d throw a citywide parade the day the pastor left.
How did this happen? We let it happen. As absurd as it sounds, we were scared of being called racist. We hated ourselves, and so we handed historic plots of land to interlopers who have no interest in assimilating.
I shouldn’t be compelled to hire people based on their sexual tastes and melanin content, just as I shouldn’t be compelled to convert church bells into the Muslim call to prayer five times a day. Why is it even debatable whether we rename American streets after Muslim extremists?
This is America. We value liberty, merit, self-determination and the ideals of Western civilization. We speak English. We kill terrorists. If you don’t speak the language, if you glorify terrorists, if you’re not contributing, if you’re not assimilating and following our laws, here’s a ticket home.
You might call it racist. That’s fine. I call it common sense.
