State of Wednesday: MEANWHILE ...
Things are going to get a whole lot stupider before we smarten up.
Greetings, Dear Reader,
Things are going to get a whole lot stupider before we smarten up.
As usual, a reminder, welcome to State of the Day, where I strip the euphemism and misdirection off that day’s news and give it to you straight – no ice, no mixer.
Welp.
MEANWHILE
It would lose them a lot of money, but Heritage should just fire everyone on the “Antisemitism Task Force” and move on as if nothing happened.
The Task Force issued Kevin Roberts a series of demands. They’re nearly identical to previous demands we’ve seen from hyper-racial “affinity” groups and internal politburos at universities across the country.
He must delete his video calling Tucker a “friend.” He must apologize to Jews and Christians who believe Israel is special. He must say Tucker is bad. Hire an official who is even more dedicated to Israeli ethnoreligious supremacy than the antisemitism task force. And finally: Shabbat dinners for all the Heritage interns.
This is a comical series of demands. Worse, Trump helped bring on a lot of this by appointing his own antisemitism task force in response to Ivy League universities failing to police hyper-racial supremacists in their own student bodies.
They’ve leapt past disagreeing with certain speech and landed right on compelled speech; there are things Roberts must say and must do, and those things relate entirely to ethnoreligious traits.
This is toxic. He should respond by simply announcing they’ve all been fired.
Brett Weinstein suffered a similar series of demands when he refused to leave campus on a blacks-only day at Evergreen College.
Conservative editor Curt Mills points out that some members of this Heritage ethnoreligious supremacy group double as members of a group entirely dedicated to smashing resistance to Israeli foreign interests.
Don’t wait for them to resign, Kevin, shitcan them. Do it over X, like Trump would do.
Then move on and say nothing.

I’m deliberately withholding my personal views on Israel, its war, and the degree to which it should or should not have a place in American policy in this column because they are subordinate to my belief in a free and independent Washington and free and independent Americans.
There’s no room for American governments, large and small, to form special brigades dedicated to special protections for ethnicities, religions or (obviously) foreign capitals. There should also be no room in major American policy institutions, like Heritage, for these sorts of brigades.
They are antithetical to our founding documents.
—
This is exactly what Nick Fuentes wants. He wants ethnoreligious supremacists to battle it out.
Good job, guys.

Meanwhile, the Heritage story is one of the most online, insular and off-the-radar debates.
Mamdani won in NYC. Democrats swept Virginia. Neither is all that shocking. Democrats by a wide margin support violence on domestic soil to achieve political goals. Despite all available evidence, they support government takeovers of food and housing in New York City.
Democrats elected a top law enforcement officer in Virginia, Jay Jones, who doesn’t believe in policing the law, wants more police to die, and thinks it’s okay to assassinate the family members of opponents in order to convince them to change their minds politically.
The failure of national conservatives and powerful conservative institutions to take even slight action to prevent these illiberal victories is simply stunning.
Our champion in NYC was Curtis Sliwa, a politically perennial cartoon character who had no hope. Likewise in Virginia, conservatives barely cared enough to influence the outcome on the GOP side.
(I like Earle-Sears, likely because we’re both Marines, but let’s be honest, she was DOA.)

If you were to ask 100 normie Republicans in rural America who Kevin Roberts is, few of them would know. They could definitely tell you about grocery prices, immigration and crime, though.
That’s how little this debate matters. It only matters to elites. It shouldn’t matter to them, but it does.
Fire the task force. Send a message to the movement elite and your deep-pocketed friends.
Then turn the entirety of Heritage onto issues that actually matter to conservatives.
