There is nothing lately that’s more self evidently insane than your modern, urban leftist. Of all stripes, frankly. The oddest thing of all is how incapable (or unwilling?) they are of seeing it.
NAKED MAN
Ending my commuter relationship with public transit in Washington, DC, a few years ago was a huge relief. Stepping on the train at almost any time of day was like playing roulette. Is it going to be this time? Or maybe on my way back?
Whether it was passed out drug addicts, human filth encrusted vagrants, obviously insane people, or flat out criminals, the question always hung in the air: Is today the day I have to fight crime?
Several, and I mean dozens, of rides in that final year seemed close. A couple tatted up riders on a busy train openly smoking marijuana. Had children boarded, I’m not sure I’d have been able to stop myself. A drunk (and still openly drinking) man in the middle of the afternoon threatening to bludgeon an elderly, homeless man who was clearly in a drug-induced sleep. Screaming in his face. Thankfully, other nearby riders bid him to “shut up and sit down.” There was one time I stood up and placed myself between a mother and her two adolescent girls, clearly tourists, and a ranting maniac brimming with potential violence.
He kept saying something to the effect of having “had enough” with “white people.” The girls were visibly terrified.
In a popular tourist and recreation area of Portland this past weekend, a fully naked man got in a tug of war with a mom over her seven-year-old daughter, police said. They each had one arm and were allegedly pulling so aggressively that the girl’s feet were up off the ground.
The police said they had already been called to a stand-off with a barricaded suspect around a mile away.
Finally the father — maybe he was retrieving something or other for his family — and another bystander realized what was happening, ran to the fracas, and started throttling the naked man, police said.
“We don’t have the appropriate amount of police officers to handle the amount of demand for police services,” a beleaguered Portland Police officer flatly said at a follow-on press conference.
It’s true. The Portland Police Department’s staffing has been reduced by around 24% in recent years. Their budget has taken a massive hit. Around $20 million was deleted from their budget.
How this all happened is about as self evident as a fully nude man walking around in broad daylight at a popular recreation area of a city. Following the 2020 race riots over the death of St. George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the follow-on show trial that unjustly imprisoned not one, but two policemen, urban Democrats wasted no time targeting police.
Jobs were cut, the department was partially “defunded,” as the mantra was at the time.
A portion of a $15 million budget cut was “redirected” to ‘community programs,’ which is just a euphemism for useless nonprofits headed up by people who are friends with and donate to the local Democrat party.
Does anyone call a nonprofit when a naked man is trying to haul away a 7-year old in public?
As all this occurred, violent crime was surging, department morale was cratering, and the “Ferguson Effect” was taking hold in cities across the country, including Portland.
And you know who the beneficiaries of all the violence are? Opportunistic criminals and even most insane people don’t try to victimize guys who look like Navy SEALs. It’s little girls, elderly people, women, children, the most vulnerable and defenseless members of the population bear the brunt.
Again, it’s all as self evidently insane as a man in women’s lingerie reading “My trans uncle” to kindergartners in a library.
Still, if you talk to just about any local coed, dyed hair, septum ring, or an elected urban Democrat, you are likely to hear the same old duck speak about social workers, NGOs and police being modern day “gestapo.”
Trump was right. You people are insane. Nakedly so.
The main problem for you in the long run is that most of us can see it.
