State of Wednesday: THE LONG, EXCRUCIATING DEATH OF LIBERAL NETWORK NEWS
Is anyone surprised?
Greetings, Dear Reader,
I’m here. You’re here. Let’s do it.
THE LONG, EXCRUCIATING DEATH OF LIBERAL NETWORK NEWS
Deception. Lies. Elaborate fabrications. Heavy-handed editing. Sexual misconduct. The least notable trait of the failed liberal network news personality would be bias, if not for its utter ubiquity.
The latest casualty in the long death march of liberal media is none other than Scott Pelley.
Pelley launched a highly choreographed ambush of his new boss, Nick Bilton, at 60 Minutes. His tantrum, focused most intensely on Bari Weiss, later ended up in the hands of The Washington Post and The Guardian. It was recorded, of course, again, the whole thing was no doubt planned. The story also came with two anonymous sources in the room.
In effect, it was a gift wrapped resignation letter.
Bilton fired Pelley late last night and his own termination letter “leaked.” I don’t know anything about Bilton. He is a long-time tech reporter who comes from The New York Times, yet Pelley treated him like a member of the Proud Boys.
It’s unclear if Pelley knows he’s been fired yet. I’m not sure he gets phone service where he resides, deep inside his own ass.
Pelley is most recently known for such hits as lab leak is a conspiracy theory, school libraries are not hosting pornographic books, and his perennial “global warning” about climate change.
His final tirade included a line about Bilton’s “slender qualifications” to helm 60 Minutes, but it’s clear that Pelley’s news judgement is about as developed as the intellect of a white girl with a bachelor’s degree and crushing debt. Thus, he could easily be replaced by one.
As much as she could save with that option, Bari would be wise to go in a different direction.
The fate of liberal media personalities has not been good in the last decade or so.
Has anyone seen Matt Lauer lately?
Before him Dan Rather disgraced himself with hilariously fabricated George Bush service documents. Brian Williams, who’s still somehow in the business, got caught fabricating war stories. Chris Cuomo did crisis communications for his brother’s handling of the COVID-19 crisis as governor right from his anchor chair at CNN. Fired Don Lemon looks likely to go to jail. Rachel Maddow, who won the prestigious Walter Cronkite Award last year, will go down as perhaps the most prolific conspiracy theorist ever to host a primetime network news show.
Her cohort, Mehdi Hasan, also fired. He wrote a book about winning “every” debate and can’t seem to actually win one. He lost a Munk debate and three months later got trounced by Eylon Levy, a literal IDF official. He retreated to a debate against Michael Knowles just this year and, by the numbers, lost that one as well.
It took years after she accused time traveling Russians of writing homophobic slurs on her blog for Joy Reid to finally be fired. She declared it a loss for black women and heavily implied MSNBC was racist. Of course.
There are more. Katie Couric, David Gregory, Terry Moran, who called Stephen Miller a “world class hater” on Twitter and still expected people to believe he was objective. Scott MacFarlane, a longtime “justice correspondent” for CBS, left in a huff over Bari Weiss and ended up at … MeidasTouch, a far-left hatchet shop known for spinning absolute yarns about the right.
Is anyone going to miss the long creep of the camera as Scott Pelley takes off his glasses to say something that seems profound but actually is just long rehearsed liberal orthodoxy?
Even one person?
With Pelley out the death spiral continues, and it’s the same for as far the eye can see.
Bias. Bullshit. Contrived, private tantrums go public. Liberals lament.
And here I am, buttering my bread.

The wife and I used to watch the network news from ABC, CBS & NBC on a nightly basis thanks to TIVO. It was interesting that on a nightly basis, all 3 seemed to run the same stories with the same video and the same scripts. We also noted that the networks had no problem with producing segments that were clearly lies. We no longer watch any of them.
