“He who rides a tiger is afraid to dismount,” goes an ancient Chinese proverb, meaning that sometimes when you are doing something dangerous, it is better to finish it without hesitation. In politics, when candidates tap into an extremist movement for electoral support, they better be prepared to hold on for dear life; otherwise, the moment they try to “dismount,” they will suffer the wrath of a beast they cannot fully control.

Such was the case Wednesday when the far-left tiger took a swipe at New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
