THE MIGRANT CRIME HOSTAGE STATEMENT

There is a strange little ritual that now follows certain crimes.

A migrant is accused of committing some horrific act. The public notices. People get angry.

And then, almost immediately, the victims — or the victims’ families — are expected to step forward and reassure everyone that the real danger is not the group of people committing these types of crimes, but the backlash.
