Welcome Inside The White House
Here, at State of the Day, I want to bring you truly behind the scenes, show you what it is like to be a White House correspondent.
Reagan Reese here, the White House correspondent for the Daily Caller.
I knew I wanted to go into journalism since I was 16 years old and joined my high school newspaper. Fast forward to college, I studied journalism at Hillsdale College (while also winning two conference championships on the softball team). During school, I began a series of internships based in San Diego and then D.C.
It was during these internships that I learned of the Daily Caller. And at 19 years old, I told my dad I just had to work there.
At the time I discovered the Caller, the outlet’s motto was, “the journalists who love America,” a perfect description of me then and me now.
But now we have a new motto that fits my personality even better: “Your rebels in the swamp.”
Here at the Caller we are an outlet for you. The American. The American who is sick of the mainstream media and the narratives being pushed. The American who never gets to hear the questions on their mind asked of the president or his press secretary. The American who is sick of never getting answers.
That’s what the Daily Caller Rebels are for. That’s what I’m here for.
For two and a half years, I’ve had unfettered access to the most powerful place in the world: The White House.
I traveled on Air Force One and asked questions of two press secretaries from the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room. I went to the border with the vice president. I watched up close as Joe Biden dropped out of the race and Kamala Harris made a presidential run. I even sat down in the Oval Office with President Donald Trump for an hour-long conversation.
I have seen a lot, from moments with the president when the cameras are off to how they prepare the food on Air Force One!
Here, at State of the Day, I want to bring you truly behind the scenes, show you what it is like to be a White House correspondent.
One that gets to ask questions in the press briefing room and one who regularly is in the Oval Office questioning Trump.
Come along to see how it all works, like the strategizing of conversations with different members of the media. Learn what goes through my head and get the questions you want answered by the most powerful people in the world.
